Skills Training
A place of happiness and great joy!
Namisu Skills Training Centre
The innovative and unique Namisu Skills Training Centre was built to help students who had either not been able to complete secondary school (due to lack of money for school fees) or who demonstrated more practical, hands-on, skills that they wished to develop. With very limited opportunity for students to enrol anywhere, without passing exams at school, many young people fell through the net and were left with no hope or opportunity to acquire a skill that would set them up for the future. Building our Skills Training Centre changed all that.
So, how does the Skills Training Centre bridge the gap?
Our courses are free of charge and are driven by demand of the young people enrolling onto them. We train 60 students in one cohort and these are split into 2 classes, each studying a different vocational training course. There are many classes on which young adults can choose to enrol, including motor mechanics, tailoring, hair and beauty, welding and fabrication, carpentry….the list really is endless! All courses are lead by Technical Entrepreneurial and Vocational Education and Training Authority (TEVETA) accredited trainers and all students who pass the courses are awarded with a TEVETA recognised certificate.
